Introduction to Knitting (Classes)
If your curiosity has been piqued with the notion of being able to make your own beautiful and unique knitwear then this class is perfect for you.
You will learn how to take those “2 sticks & a ball of string” and produce wearable Art, or at the very least a satisfactory and serviceable item of clothing !!
All aspects of knitting will be covered, from suitable yarns to needle sizes, tension swatches to simple cast-ons and cast-offs, the knit & purl stitches, reading a pattern, increases & decreases etc.
You will have support and advice from myself and bucket loads of encouragement from your fellow beginners. The beginner groups tend to form a bond and I currently have 3 different groups, which started as all beginners, now working their way through far more complex patterns after becoming firm friends and choosing to book classes together. So please do not worry if you feel anxious attending on your own, you will get an incredibly warm welcome and be able to proceed at your own pace.
Knitting, as indeed is crochet, can be as costly or time-consuming as you desire – you do not need to purchase expensive yarns or high-end needles to knit. Yes, it is lovely to expand your tools as you progress and the variety of patterns to choose from alone is a rabbit hole there is no turning back from but a classic pair of needles and a decent ball of yarn will give you excellent results, which we will provide FREE for you.
There are 4 classes within this course, as follows;
Week 1 4th March 7 – 8pm
Week 2 11th March 7 – 8pm
Week 3 18th march 7 – 8pm
Week 4 25th march 7 – 8pm
Tea & Cake refreshments are provided FREE, along with needles & yarn and you will also receive a bonus stitch marker to start you on your journey of creating beautiful knits.
Throughout this beginner course you are welcome to pop in to the Knitters Attic shop during our opening hours for advice or help if you find yourself confused or in a pickle, I do advise you call first just to double-check I am there as occasionally there are days I have to be off-site meeting suppliers or attending shows etc.
